What a birth control means?

Birth control is basically a method which is used to control and prevent pregnancy. Contraception is another word used in this regard. A sex without having precautions would be more liable to get pregnant.


This can happen even if periods are not started or age is closer to menopause.Out of 100 there are 85 such women who have an uncontrolled pregnancy. Not having sex is not a solution for birth control but taking good method of birth control to avoid an unplanned pregnancy.

Medical definition of contraception is the fertilization of sperm with egg of a female. Women have a definite right to take decisions regarding their bodies which include whether they want a child or not. Such decisions helps to understand their bodies as well as sexual safely and enjoyment with men.

With the large number of advancements in the technology of family planning has led to increase the chances of control over fertility. These methods fulfill the need of every individual which one is favorable for a particular person. The advent of contraceptive pills is a recent advancement in this regard by which a delay in pregnancy has proven to be more successful.

What are different birth control methods?

Birth control has become imperative now due to the rise in population globally, a family planning need and to safeguard ourselves from an unwanted pregnancy. There are large number of methods for birth control which includes: coitus interruptus or withdrawal method, barrier methods just like condom, contraceptive sponge and diaphragm. Chemical methods includes: contraceptive patch, contraceptive pills, progesterone-only pill, fertility methods of awareness, intrauterine methods and others.

Apart from preventive methods, abortion methods can also be adopted which includes herbal abortifacients, surgical abortions and chemical abortions to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Rather there are some permanent solutions of birth control like surgical sterilizations which includes: vasectomy for men and tubal ligation for women.

Regardless of many other birth control methods available in market, the most popular ones are condoms and contraceptive pills. Contraceptive pills contain hormone like estrogen or progestin orally taken by women as it considered the most reliable mode to prevent pregnancy. Contraceptive pills also have some side effects like headache; obesity and depression in women are commonly observed in these cases.
