Jaundice treatment generally depends on the underlying cause of jaundice along with other complications related to jaundice. Proper diagnosis of jaundice will lead to proper treatment of jaundice. Sometimes hospitalization may be required. Jaundice treatment consists of rest along with proper medication.

  • Drinking fluids will help to maintain proper hydration
  • Only those medicines should be taken which are prescribed by the doctor.
  • In case of jaundice, avoid herbal medicines; supplements etc.This can cause many side effects.
  • Patient should avoid drinking alcohol.
  • The doctor may provide certain dietary restrictions.
  • Parents should place the newborn baby to a well lit window which can help decreasing elevated bilirubin levels.
  • Breast feeding jaundice required proper milk intake
