Foodborne illnesses are caused by using beverages and all sort of contaminated food. Pathogens (fungi, virus and bacteria) can contaminate the food. Because of this, there are many foodborne diseases, which are caused by foodborne infections. Foodborne illness is also caused by harmful substances and poisonous chemicals if present in our food.
According to foodborne illness statistics, there are as many as 250 foodborne illnesses. Many of these illnesses are infections. Other foodborne illnesses include food poisoning caused by taking contaminated food. Different foodborne diseases have different symptoms. Microbes usually enter the human body via gastrointestinal tract. So, early symptoms of the disease usually appear in gastrointestinal tract which can cause diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and abdominal cramps.
Pathogens spread in many different ways so, a particular disease remain unpredicted in many cases. Salmonella is a common pathogen spreading foodborne illness i.e. salmonella poisoning. Salmonella food poisoning is common in many countries worldwide.
