What causes heart diseases?


Heart disease is a major death cause in America and a leading death cause in adults. Most common cardiovascular disease i.e. coronary artery disease is most common in America. There are many major and contributing risk factors of heart diseases. Some risk factors for heart disease can be changed, treated and modified but some cannot.Risk factors increase the risk and causes of heart disease. Information on heart disease shows that risk factors include:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Overweight and obesity
  • High blood cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Physical inactivity
  • Heredity
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Sex hormones
  • Birth control pills
  • Use of alcohol

High blood pressure always increases the risk of stroke, heart attack and heart diseases. Risk of heart disease increases for obese persons who smoke, have high blood pressure and high cholesterol level. People with diabetes are more prone to the risk of heart diseases. Overweight increases the cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. Risk factor for coronary artery disease also increases.
